    Clockwise issues

One of the arab mares I'm working with in HUS is giving me fits. She's never gone as perfect clockwise as she does counter clockwise. We've been working on it, and she really does great now at the walk & trot.

The problem arises when I ask for a clockwise canter. For a while she was picking up the wrong leade EVERY time, but we've made progress so now it's only sometimes. But now we have an issue where she'll break into a trot from a canter and I have to really get firm with her to move her back into the canter. Towards the beginning of the ride she is not as bad as she is towards the end.

I talked to the BO (who I really trust as a knowledgeable horse person) and she suggested that maybe the mare would get hot & tired at the end of the ride & her clockwise problem would become more evident as she got more exhasted? I had the BO check out her legs just briefly but we didn't have time to fully examine her. I know I don't ride differently, and I try to ride clockwise just like I do counter, as if there is no problem.

Maybe she just needs more time & work.
    What are your opinions?

You already know the solution. This.

    Will do. :)
It worked for the trot/walk so I don't know why I doubted it for the canter.
    Thanks SR!

I think you just needed someone else to say it, Eliz.

Sometimes we doubt ourselves, even when we know we're right.

    You're welcome.
