Colt Dragging His Feet

Didn't know if this is a training issue or health issue so I figured I'd put it here first...
I have a two year old colt I've had about 4 months now and when I first got him he had a kicking problem that I was able to resolve after asking on here so I'm motivated to get answers again.
The last two weeks we have been highly focusing on round pen and lunge line work trying to get him in shape and build up his topline and been doing pretty good. We only go at it for 20 mins a day(I put a timer on lol) well the last two days he has been dragging his back feet, primarily his back left hoof. Take into consideration this is also the way he doesn't like to go. His next trim is coming up in about 2/3 weeks and by looking at his hoof it doesn't seem long in my experience but I'm not a farrier lol...would he be dragging out of soreness, laziness? He drags at a trot more than a walk, and we are not cantering but one circle and he seems fine there as well.
Should I add ground poles so he learns to pick up his feet?
He's a very laid back colt I've already been on his back bareback and has never offered to buck or rear up so I personally feel it's out of laziness but wanted some opinions. Thanks

He doesn't kick his stall walls I've checked to see if there were any marks of that so he's not doing that...I have two geldings and had to switch farriers because the first one was trimming both geldings leaving to much toe, so to say, but he's due for another trim in about 2/3 weeks. I was thinking maybe he's feet are growing faster than usual...

I'd get him checked too, see what the farrier says as well. It could be laziness/awkwardness and poles are good, but I wouldn't be too worried at this point if he checks out ok.

It sounds like you are doing a ton of circle work for his age though :/ Could definitely be part of it. He doesn't need to be in shape or have a topline at this point, you haven't actually started him yet right? I'd do a couple days a week, no more, ground work/handling in between if you're trying to get him going.
