    Well, as a comparison, we occasionally sell some of our VERY well (trail) broke horses. They know how to stop, direct rein to turn, and walk/trot/canter. They're totally trail bombproof but wouldn't know how to move off your leg, back up, or do anything except go down a trail. We usually ask $1500 and we are located in an area where horse prices are high.

    Thanks very much everyone for your advice/suggestions. I must admit that I've never met a trail horse before that didn't back up! She does walk and jog along the trail but tossing/shaking her head all the time was more offputting than anything.

    And I agree - for that kind of money she should be cleaning my house!
