Cute accomplishment!

Yesterday I took Lacey for a walk down the road (I was leading her, we were having a "fun" day) and many of you know that the road is not exactly her favorite place.

Well yesterday she actually kept a good pace, right next to me, no charging ahead or anything, AND when she got worried she'd put her nose right down by my hands and breath in my hand-ness and sigh, like "ok, Mom's not worried, maybe I'll be ok after all."

I just thought that was super cute how she was being so obvious on her reliance on me for reassurance. I know she relies on me most of the time to keep her calm demeanor (for instance the other day I was hanging with her and I was super excited about something and bouncing all over while everybody else was totally calm and guess what Lacey was acting like? Yep, she was bouncing too) but most of the time it's not obvious.

I just love how much she needs me.

She's getting downright low key!

Rest peacefully, Lacey.

That is so sweet. It's nice that you have that rapport with her.

I always find that the need-ier creature of the day feeds off of the other -- on my down days I get positive influence from my horses and on their bad days, I'm their support.

Nice to hear that your girl is trusting you so much.

She's such a sweetie, I'm glad that she's in my life. ^.^

It just shocks me so much how she pretty much made a 180 from being the stereotypical "crazy Arab" to being perfectly calm (75% of the time), and even a little lazy.

I guess probably everybody who is starting to see the results of a year of hard work with a project horse probably feels this way but I never in a million years thought she'd get this amazing. I just figured that maybe if I was lucky she'd get marginally consistent, maybe 45% of the time and borderline calm.

I guess it goes to show how much a relationship can mean to a very relationship oriented horse. =D
