Talking Decided to Brag about our Filly! ;)

To start at the beginning We got this little girl when our other baby died. It's eventually going to be a horse for my little sister. She has turned 2 a few months ago and I came back to Canada from my 2 years in Holland. I have just met the filly last month and I was a little apprehensive of the horse because my sister is a very beginner rider and gets very nervous quickly. Now I started working with the horse a few weeks ago just working on ground work and her tying(she used to pull back extremely bad). That is fine now and so yesterday I decided to put the saddle on her for the first time last night. It's an old western saddle. I tightened up the cinch(no reaction), then I waved the stirrups around(no reaction) I lunged her(walk trot canter backup turn) and still she gave no reaction besides giving me a dumb look as in "what are you doing back there?". I let her just stand there with it and she decided to eat grass. Then I decided to step in the stirrup and do a few jumps on both sides. She couldn't care less. Eventually I leaned over her and put my leg on her bum and I petted her all over. She still just stood there. I don't get it. Why isn't she taking off and bucking? My horse is a spirited one that spooks easily but this girl just stood there. To be honest it kindof scares me because I don't know what her limits are. I wonder when I will hit them.

As a young foal my parents put a bareback saddle pad that can't be properly tightened on her and she didn't care either. We also asked her previous owners(very good friends of ours) if they have done anything with her but they haven't touched her at all.

Well that's a long enough story I guess. Thanks for reading!

PS. With ground work I used a huge plastic tarp unfolded it while rubbing it on her and I hung it over her entirely. You could only see her face. This was in the horse pasture with our other horses and I led her around. The other horses spooked and ran away at this big blue monster coming towards them! Quite funny actually.

She sounds like she'll be an amazing horse for a beginner!

Some horses are just that: they could care less about some things.
My arab-cross could care less about despooking items, but freaks out when we're riding in the arena and the horses in the adjacent pasture move around.

Every horse has at least one thing that will not necessarily make them act crazy and freak, but at least get them a bit uneasy. Maybe tack and being ridden isn't her "uneasy" thing, but a fallen tree, tinsel, bells, measuring tape, etc. could be.

Good luck with her! She sounds like she'll be a great riding horse. C:
