Dixie pays off!

Hey all,
Aint been around much actually been out training and working n stuff..lol
Saturday our 2 y/o Dixie got an honest to goodness first ride. As I have gotten old and far too smart to be the one that actually crawls aboard first these days I put the young man that is interested in my youngest daughter on the hurricane deck.. evil? Probably but I'm ok with that, he's a pretty good horseman. Any way after taking the reins from him for being a bit heavy handed and she's still settling into the bit. (she pitched a little) I tied the lead into reins and had him use the rope halter and lead. Little Dixie looked like she'd been being ridden for months. Did circles then walked out, turns, stops, and pays attention! WOOHOO I was afraid she might be a bit more bull headed than that, bout 10 minutes then unsaddled and brushed her, she's acting like a 4 year old broke mare. Stoked here, looks like she's going to be the horse I wanted for my daughter after all.

My Vet and Farrier are currently splitting my childeren's inheritance.

LOL.... I love your wicked plan of putting the boyfriend up there first. I'll have to remember that one when my girls get to be teens!!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift-that's why it's called the present.

It is "Dad's natural selection process" lol. If he can't break a filly... well I better stop there as I am in the minority here...lol

Lol I always wished I had someone I could just throw up on the horses as a "tester" after I did all the groundwork. My boyfriend doesn't like horses, and I am having the hardest time finding anyone brave enough, bahaha.

eh.. if yer young.. jump aboard.. I don't because I don't bounce so good and healing tends to take longer these days... If I was in my 20's I'd be on em.. and off em and back on and off..etc..etc...

ok here is a pic of my daughter on Dixie. Photo has been partially redacted to protect the guilty..lol Yes I saw the breastcollar was too big and removed it. But it was on there for the pic because it was on the saddle when she saddled her up. She is still getting used to the bit so there are no reins attached to the headstall just getting her used to it. I love it when a youngster shows that it has brains.. WOOHOO Dixie!
