Hey just because he's 30 doesnt mean he can't be used to walk and trot around an arena or such we had a 25 yr old ottb at my grandads farm wen I was younger an I used to ride him bareback everywhere wen I was young
I've worked for tb trainers since I was 15/16 and one thing I recommend shorten your stirrups a few holes and practise practise practise you learn you have muscles you never thought you had lol and build up your arm muscles because many racers pull also you gotta have a good back and posture wen race riding otherwise like I found out youll develop back probs and be really sore :(
Hang around experienced professionals at the track or otherwise and be a sponge ask questions and don't give up if you stick at it eventually youll get a break

Yeah. That's what we are saying. He can be used lightly but we wouldn't push him any further. And believe it or not there is usually a huge difference between a 25 year old and a 30 year old... BUT some horses age more gracefully than others
