First ride on filly's

I'm so proud of myself and my babys! We got our first time in the saddle today on both of them. Saro had a saddle on a couple of times last fall, but Shiloh only once and that was last week.
They will be 3 in April and I only rode for about 10-15 min. On both of them. I figure that's enough for the first time.
They both did well at walking out and giving to the pressure of the lead rope to turn and whoa. I think they are going to be fine trail horses by the end of summer
Here are a couple of photos. Please no fat a$$ jokes I'm not in my best clothes when I work with the horses, especially shedding ones
I started out with just pressure in the stirrup working my way up to full weight and then throwing a leg over. They both stood still at the mounting block till I got all the way up, they are such good baby's
I'm very proud of them and myself for having the courage to be the first one in the saddle on them. I never thought I could do it and wanted to share with you.

The first photo is Saro the second Shiloh and the 3rd is Shiloh's first time with a saddle last week. 100_0268.jpg

That's so great Maureen! It's obvious you've done a great job with them and you have every right to be proud! I can't wait for my first ride on Luna!

Since the day they were born I had planned on sending them to someone else to do the green breaking. I was so afraid to actually throw a leg over. I got them good at everything to that point but was just to chicken.
I don't know what got into me today. I was just going to give them their regular lesson. Next thing I know I'm on Shiloh's back I only stayed on for about 30 seconds I was so excited I had to run to the house to get Tony, the camera and my helmet.

Congrats, Maureen! You did really well...

I actually got on both my youngsters bareback for the first 5 times or so. Not because I'm brave, but because it's easier to fall from them if they misbehave (and I won't get cut in stirrups or something). Lol!

Congrats!!! That is great news. It looks like they have been doing it their whole lives. That first time in the saddle is certainly exhilarating. I bet they will be great trail horses. Keep us updated and keep posting more pix. :) GREAT JOB!!
