First show in indoor arena

Yesterday, I took my horse to a indoor barrel and games show. He did great besides one thing. He crowhopped everytime we are running back except for once. I just laughed and smiled and got his head up and then we went on. He is usually a very well manored horse. It wasnt a fierse I want to hurt you crowhop. He is seasoned in shows and was fine out side the ring. Didnt get pumpy or anything. At home I lope him around and stuff. Anyone know how to help?

Maybe warm him up a little better? Sounds like he wasn't focused on you......

Was it the first time he has done it? And if he has never been in a indoor facility he isn't fully seasoned.....if everything is fitting properly just sounds like he wasn't paying enough attention to you. Don't think it is cute and funny, get after him for it. Because he will think it is ok to act that way and you might end up getting thrown one of these days. It will go from being funny/cute to being very frustrating.

Yeah the warming up I also think may be the problem. I only had about 30 timutes.well he has done English in a indoor arena and we have played around in one but havent ran in one.Yeah I get what you are saying ,I didnt want to get angry with him and defintally not in front of a crowd of people.I gotafter him but with a smile on my face.

Agree with spending some more time on your warmup if you can and correcting this crow-hopping right away.

Good job on your show though

My horse's first few shows were in an indoor arena, no issues back then. Then a few years ago at an outdoor show, it started raining, so the show was moved indoors. They let us warm up inside, he was a jerk, so I raingeared up and worked the snot out of him in the outdoor, then took him inside to relax. When the classes resumed, he loved it in there.
