Frustrated! Any tips?
So I have been working with Breeze some, not as much as I would like to lately, but she is still getting a lot of handling. However, we have encountered a little problem!
Breeze is getting bigger and stronger and she knows it. This isn't the problem yet, but it could be... although this isn't what I am talking about right now.
Lately Breeze has been an angel! She has been listening good and staying out of my space and stuff. Now, on Saturday I took her to a horse show. I put her in Halter and there was 3 of us in our class (small town show) and she was being extremely pushy, almost running me over when she would see a miniture pony and just being a brat.
I know that it had a lot to do with her being in a different place, with a lot of horses around her and stuff, but that gives her no excuse to be pushy and she needs to respect my space ANYWHERE! And this is where we are getting to the problem.
Ever since we got back from the show, Breeze has been the little devil. Well, okay, maybe not the devil, but I don't know what to do, as I have been doing everything the same as I was before the show.
Also, she listens to me the best out of who handles her. She respects me and trusts me the most. My boss, however, she is very disrespectful toward and won't listen to small things like going in her stall, loading in the trailer, etc. But she will listen to me.
I am going to be working with her more now, using different techniques and getting her to respect my space, and listen to me 100% of the time, then hand her over to my boss so she will listen to other people also.
I know she is in her terrible twos stage, but that doesn't give her an excuse.
Any tips on what to work on to get her respecting us again?
And although Breeze and I are having our issues, my new horse and I are going great! Got a solid walk, trot, canter and working on sidepassing, backing up, etc!
P.S. Even though she was being a brat in our halter class, we still managed to get second place! So that part of the show wasn't a complete failure...
