Gidget is going to training

It's true!

I had my first lesson with her today and well my trainer said she was an angry horse. She said that she has learned that it isn't a joy to move forward so she gets annoyed and testy. I'm not sure but she said she was green. I always thought she was a well trained horse..not sure if she means that as for dressage or western or just green in general. She lunged her and Gidget took off outside but my trainer made her run backwards and she stopped. I got on her on the lunge line and we just did it at a walk and if she trotted I would slow her down but it was hard since my trainer made me hold two dressage hands were very stiff and I couldn't relax. Anyways we both agreed that she is going to come out in the fall and be boarder there and have a full month's worth of training. She said she can tell she is a nice horse and she knows I really like her although she is crabby most of the time but it's a good thing I got her so I can help her. I let her know what her past life was and my instructor said that it explained a lot so I'm SUPER EXCITED that she is going to get retrained

It's kind of interesting how people have assumptions about horses and their training level based on certain things. Shay-la has a couple of mares that are almost bombproof trail horses, but in regards to ANY sort of riding from your seat or legs, they are as green as it gets. They only operate on clucking and pulling on the reins to go faster and slower. So really, all they're "trained" to do is not spook at rocks and mostly listen to their riders kicks or pulls.

It sounds like it's a good idea that Gidget is going for training to make the whole experience a lot happier for both of you!

Yes,I like that fact that she is going into training as we will learn together and hopefully she will realize life isn't so bad!
She did say she has nice movement when she lunges but needs to stretch out her front legs as she doesn't move out like she should.
I am super excited to see Gidget and I making progress. She will be a dressage pony in no time!..well it will take time but you know what I mean...I think.
