Halter training a donkey

A friend of mine has a donkey that im taking as she no longer can care for it . Its only a year old and im not even sure if its gelded or not . I wanted to try halter train it . Its very friendly and likes being petted but its hard to catch. I've never had to halter train before so help me out here people lol

I have heard before that mules/burros/donkeys tend to go forward into pressure (like some Appys), so you can snub them; but not horses (not that I am saying snub anything, but that was what I was told years ago).
