Thank you so much! Your reply really helped. Everything you said made a lot of sense. I will definitely try everything you mentioned. I've been taking it slow so far, but your right. I should just work on the transitions from walk to halt and so on. Once she gets that then I'll move ahead to walk trot. I'm putting away the whip. And your right, they aren't crazy. Just had a different lifestyle than most other horses.

Just wanted to add, keep things very simple. Break things down into steps for her. Most TBs learn very quickly, but also get frustrated if they do not understand what you want. So you don't erode any confidence you build into her, just make sure you take a step back if you see her getting frustrated. Better to teach her a little thing successfully than get her all worked up about something more complicated. I'm sure she'll quickly surprise you with her capacity to learn and even more to in her willingness to try for you.
