Horse Delivery Saturday

It just crossed my mind that I never usually ride the very first day the horse shows up. We do ground work and grooming to help the horse adjust to the new place. So many people do hop on the first day and I'm so excited about this particular horse. Would it be a bad idea or a good idea if I went ahead with it the first day?

People go to shows & ride. The horse doesn't know if it's a new home or an event. Some people don't ride because they want to get to know the horse better.
Do whatever feels right ~for you.
Congrats on your new horse.

If the horse arrives in the morning, I'll usually get on it in the afternoon.

Some people won't ride but as someone else above said, the horse doesn't know if its at a new home or an event.

I ride my horses if I'm up to it the day they arrive because I plan to show so they need to get use to it.

If the horse seems to be settling in alright then I'd say it's fine :)

That makes perfect sense, never thought of it that way. Me and my husband are very excited about him so I know we'll want to ride.

Just be aware that he may be a bit more high strung or 'looky' in his new place.
