I found that most my OTTB's liked being work 5 days a week for short periods (30 - 45 mins) rather then only 2-3 days a week for long rides (over an hour) I also do a lot of transitions, just make sure you stay soft because if you pull they will just pull back. You need to teach them about your seat and legs.
As far as the right lead .. I have never really had any big issues with it .. both leads are a little fast and unbalanced. Everything will take time ..

No, I'm sorry it's just for OTTBs.. I'll keep my eyes out for OTSBs though...

So far my new OTTB is exceeding my expcectations! I was suppose to take a riding lesson (I want to learn to jump) at my boarding stable yesterday but I wasn't finished riding my new OTTB yet... so I decided to use him in my lesson. He was so good! He did everything I asked, he even picked up the right lead when asked to canter. It was pretty basic stuff but I was pleased with his behavior and he was really good with the other horses in the arena. I was so excited I wanted to share!! The instructor said my horse was giving ex racers a good name!
