Hi I have a 12yr old mare who hasn't been ridden for about 5-6 years and I myself have never ridden her. She has been used as a brood mare but now have sold the stallion and want to ride her. She is sensible and easy to do anything with on the ground.
Well I rode her yesterday... well tried and she wouldn't move. I flapped my legs and tried everything but she wouldn't go.
I got my brother to lead her around the paddock and she was fine but as soon as he stopped leading her she stopped. The only time she would move on her own was to turn around to the left.
I am at a complete loss and have no idea what to do.
She is so soft and responsive on the ground so why is she like this when I get on her??
Would love some help because honestly I wouldn't have any idea where to start.
Is there ground work I can do with her?? Or something? Anything??
Hope to get some ideas soon...
