How can you tell if it's a barrel horse

I am thinking about buying a 4 yr green broke mare that I saw being born. Very sweet great bloodlines and tall. She has sizzle six, dash for cash bloodlines. Do you think she would make a good barrel horse and should I buy her ?

If her conformation is good. She has the bloodlines to do it.

It mostly depends on her. As you work her more and on the pattern, she'll let you know if she's going to be a barrel horse.
You can MAKE her run barrels but it's up to her if she'll be happy doing it.

Maybe, while you're still working on further training, play with the barrels.
Let her get the feel for them before you start her on them. Make it fun and interesting to her.

I want her to have fun and take it easy through the training. I think with her bloodlines and our connection she will make a great barrel horse in time. But should I buy her ?

If you think she is worth the investment.
If you know the horse personally and like how she rides so far, go for it.

Maybe some pictures will help us give you better advice.

Noone can make the decision if you should buy her or not. Sure she's got running bloodlines. But do YOU have the knowledge and ability to PROPERLY train a barrel horse? Your looking at a 1-1/2 to 2 year investment in training. You can't just jump on a horse and go run barrels.

What it takes to make a good barrel horse, conformation, heart and training. Pedigree isnt even on the top of my list for what I look for. Its a bonus for me.

It's going to depend on the horse. I know a guy who pull horses off the slaughter truck for bottom dollar puts a few months on them and uses them in his lesson and show program or sells them... Trust me I have seen some fugly things go through there but a lot if them are **** good at what they do. Grades, TB, POAs, Arabs... Doesn't matter as long as they a semi balanced and want to run. So my point is running barrels is really about the horse. They could be bred to the 9's for barrels but it doesnt mean they will be successful or enjoy it! ;)
