How to canter slowly??

    This worked on a mare with a chargey trot. I had her rider keep her about 6' off the rail, ask for trot and as soon as the mare started picking up speed, she was turned toward the rail for a reverse of direction. Of course the first time she stopped thinking she was heading for the rail instead of a reverse. After a few times she got the hang of it. It took about a dozen reversals on the rail (harder work) before she'd maintain the gait she was asked for. As soon as she made a complete round of the arena at the requested speed she was put away. (huge reward for her)

    I will give the trot a try and im hoping it will help him like you guys are syaing :) I like the wall idea too!
