Question how do i teach my horse to jump!?

i bought my 7year old connemara around a month ago, her previous owner has jumped her once and says she did it well. i've hacked her out and she's jumped styles unexpectedly but i don't know where to start in the school! i have tried putting a pole down on the floor in between two jumping blocks but she won't go in between the blocks. what do i do to help her get into jumping!? any advice would be extremely helpful, thankyou!

How much experience do *you* have in jumping? If the answer to that is little to none, I would suggest you start by enlisting a good jumping instructor and an old schoolmaster or two to help you build yourself a strong foundation from which to work while also having an experienced trainer work with your horse to give her that same foundation. In short, you can't teach what you don't know.
If you do have experience yourself, skip to part *b* of that and get your mare into training with an experienced jumping trainer so that her foundation will be as strong as your own.

I suggest you get a trainer to help you. Having had a couple of lessons is VERY different from teaching a green horse to jump safely and correctly.

I have come a long way, to surrender my shadow to the shadow of my horse.

Agreed. You want your pony jumping correctly and wih you in good form. It's super easy to develop bad habits that turn into dangerous habits down the road. Eyes from the ground never hurts!
