    If your horse knows how to lunge, teach them the voice command for "trot." Then, when you have them in hand, pick up you speed and say the command. They will already know what is expected of them from the command, so it will be easy for them to figure out what you want.

    At least that's how I taught both my old gelding and Aires to trot in-hand.

    Why would anyone teach a horse to trot on a lunge before having it do so in hand? Don't get that. (So perhaps I should have said reach behind your derriere or butt??? )

    Thankyou for your tips I think I will try using a wip. I have tried everything else and he is just determined to walk.
