I have some questions about brand inspection

The 3 horses we rescued earlier are starting to calm down and become really sweet. We told the sheriff so no one can accuse us of stealing them. The sheriff said we can call the brand inspector if the owner never comes and we can claim them as ours. How long do we have to keep them? Will they actually need to be tattooed/branded? How much will it cost? We live in Colorado

They don't have to be tattoed or branded. The brand inspector just records the markings on the horses. You would have to ask the brand inspector or the sheriff about how long before they are considered abandoned.

Thanks I found the brand inspectors email so I can ask. The chestnut horse has a clover-leaf on there left should it has a stem and its 3 leafed.Do you know the history of it?
