    I need some ideas!

My horse is resting until about the middle of February because of an inflamed suspensory ligament - he is getting shock wave treatments every few weeks to speed up the process but I can only walk until he's healed and ready.

So does anyone have any ideas of some fun things to do at walk and to teach him?

I'm already thinking of perfecting his sqaure halt, doing some bareback riding and doing some in-hand work, but that's all I can really think of... I do have some trouble with his brakes in canter, but can I refine the stop queue for canter at walk?
From trot to walk and walk to halt he stops amazingly, just a slight shift in my weight. It's just the canter we need to get the hang of. Would it help?

    Thanks everyone in advance :)

We had two months last winter where the footing was too bad to do anything but walk. I used the time to teach my horse leg yeild, shoulder-fore, haunches-in, turn on forehand and reinback. It went a long way toward getting him to understand the inside leg to outside rein connection and has since translated over into the trot and canter. Weight in the saddle feels the same to him no matter what speed he's traveling at. If I sit deep and tall (half halt) in the canter even for a moment, he comes back to me. The other thing we did at the walk was the obstacle course game. We'd put stuff all over the place, drop the reins and try to manuever around the course using seat and legs only. It's fun and great for finding any holes in your communication.
