im so proud of him!!

Ive been working in side reins with gabriel lately to get him using hisself correctly, going forward, relaxed, not hanging on the bit. I've been warming him up with lunging him with them and then riding him. Well what we've really been working on lately is getting him to not lean on me when he puts his head down and rounds his back which is why I've been using the side reins. Well I had been riding him for a little while today asking him to round and get off my hands and he went for about 5 trot steps in a wonderful headset, giong forward and rounding perfectly without relying on me at all!! Yayy breakthrough! After that we just worked on ground poles but im so proud of him!!!!

Omg!! More progress! I think the more we bond the harder he tries for me becasue he was absolutely brilliant today. Ok, for one thing he didn't respond as well to the side reins today so I didn't think he would be good when I got on him. That was NOT the case! Within a few minutes of trotting he held himself up going the other way for even longer. He didn't do it again after that but its understandable since he just started doing it. So ofcourse, he got a huge pat on the back for it. And after he got rewarded for it he like completely changed into another horse. He was REALLY going forward more than he ever has before and he did a t/w transition like he'd been doing it forever. He transitioned so well that I got thrown forward a little bit because he NEVER does that. And he finally got the concept of inside leg to outside rein while turning and he actually bent to the inside!! We are making HUGE progress I am so proud of this horse. And he's the first horse I've trained so im excited about that too. Sorry, im just so happy! I LOVE MY HORSE!!
