    Jacoby update

I just thought I would let some of you know how the training is going. I have a lunge whip and line, but didn't use the line today it seemed to confuse him more so we did it at liberty. He really didn't want to yield his shoulders to me especially when I pushed on the 'spot' that they say to push. However when I applied just a little pressure on the front on his shoulder, he just turned and walked on like I wanted him to in the first place! In order to keep him going around me and not face me I have to really chase his shadow. No looking at his hind quarters at all, just looking basically at the back of his tail. Then I raised the whip and called out "paa-aace" and he stepped up and paced for two full turns! I asked for a walk and he walked, then I looked at his shoulder, moved the whip toward his front and he turned right in and stopped when I said 'whoa'!!

This was such a great break through! He still is hesitant to let me be on his right side so I am thinking about leading him around with me on that side and see if that helps. I feel like we have really accomplished something! I look at my old posts when I couldn't even ge his feet off the ground and now I can get all four feet off and even get the hoof pick in the front two. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I really appreciate it.

That's wonderfull!! Doesn't it make you feel just amazing when your horse progresses like that. It always made me feel like I was doing something right for once. Keep up the good work!

Oh wow! What a pretty boy! Is that your son there with him? How cute!

Thank you! He is a pretty boy. His coat is getting more and more brindled this summer. That is my oldest of the three boys. They come up to the farm every time that I go. They like to help out feeding and watering the animals.
