Ah, I get it RiosDad. It still looks like maybe I could have put the saddle a little further back though. It doesn't seem to bother my Arab at all, I've only noticed it doing that with her.

Do you think it's an older design issue? Or do they do it with new ones? That saddle is well over 30 years old and was customized. Just curious.

Thanks everyone else! Yeah, it was an AWESOME feeling. It's been so long since I trained Zierra, I literally can't even remember what that thrill was (I trained Zierra from ground up when I was 14, rode her for the first time when I was 17 and since then worked with problem horses and other people's already broke but green youngsters).

dashygirl - LOL, it works! It WAS just wire because it wasn't used much before I met Shay-la, so last summer having Eve Shay-la tore down any barbed wire or unsafe wire on it and put up a rail on the inside. When I get my own place, I'd definately like to make another but with just logs instead of the wire. The wire is neccesary right now because it doubles as a holding pen at times and we NEED te ability to have it hot because we have several escape artists who'd be in hysterics over a wood fence keeping them in

It was made that way. When you buy a new saddle you sometimes have an option of full forward like you have, 7/8th which means back a little and 3/4 which means further back. My endurance saddle came 50/50 which put the girth right in the center of the saddle. I have 3 new Abbeta endurance saddle and 2 of them have been modified to put it at 50/50 so the girth is right under the center of the saddle and the girth is back 6 inches from the shoulder.
There is really nothing you can do about the girth and sliding the saddle back will help a little but the saddle will find its own place and settle in that position.

She is super cute. I am sooo jealous, I have a long wait for my little man to grow up (hopefully) big enough for me to ride. Way to go!!! (from a fellow - west coast Canadian - where its not soooo cold) lol
