I wasn't sure where to put this, but I have pics AND vids, so I figured I'd lump it into training since it's an ongoing process!
She did AMAZING. She actually showed me some of her "other" side this weekend, first time I've had her be so herdbound, she was panicked any time Justus was out of sight so we had to work hard on that and it messed a lot of classes up for us, but it wasn't so bad she was uncontrollable. I also got my FIRST blow up out of her, it was priceless, it actually took me two bucks in to figure out what she was doing and go "Um, I better do something now because one more hop and I'm going to eat some dirt!" She got four decent little bucks in before I cranked her nose up and around. It's like I was so shocked she didn't just buck once and stop, I forgot what to do! I was laughing so hard, it was just SO uncharacteristic for her. Ironically, after she got that out of her system, she rode better then ever!
I really shouldn't have ridden in the English classes, my riding just isn't up to par and I really held her back. Our first class was Intro Dressage, I have a video and she spent the first half panicking about Justus but the judges really seemed to love her - I got dinged hardcore for my collapsed hip and how it affected her way of going. We ended up placing 7th out of like 12 riders, so not bad for a first time! We had a Road Hack class that we didn't place in, and then I actually scratched from Show Hack today because it was such a rush between my Western classes and I just wasn't doing her any favors. A shame, she looks SO good English, I definitely need lessons this winter!
Western, she rocked! I grew up riding Western and I am much more comfortable, natural and at home riding Western. I almost fainted when I heard our number called for 3rd place in Western Pleasure! Now, I don't know that I agree with the judge - you can watch the video and it's blatantly obvious that it's an English judge because the actual Western Pleasure horses placed LOWER then us. And I delibrately let her go around on the wrong lead after finding out someone did that in our road hack class and actually placed. And yep, turns out you place HIGHER if you keep a wrong lead instead of fixing it! I think that's silly. Either way, I was SO impressed with her performance, she was a superstar.
Then we got 1st in Pole Bending! She was AMAZING - almost a little TOO eager, I had to hold her back from cantering the pattern! I think she wants to be a gamer, haha! Then today we got 5th in Western Equitation which I am THRILLED with - I thought I'd be dead last the way I've been riding! And then we got 4th in Barrel Racing, but it was an ugly class - she did great in warm up, but once we got into the ring, she was racy and fighting and freaking out over Justus and then wouldn't stop - we have a LOT of work to do before she's allowed to do barrels again!
Whew, sorry for the enormous novel! I am just SO proud - she had some very normal 3 year old fidgets about Justus, but otherwise was the quietest most docile easy going horse around! I am very very eager to see what she has for me next summer after a winter of lessons!
Some pics and vids, enjoy, you can say whatever you want, I know my faults and I know what I'm doing to fix them, so any bitterness or rudeness will generally be ignored unless you actually have some good information to share!
Do you have ANY idea how hard it was to keep her WHITE this weekend? God, it's like she TESTED me every day!
Warming up and showing about the extent of her craziness - look at that high head!
Relaxing a bit (we're by Justus, LOL)
Hehehe, so cute!
I love this photo, she just looks so relaxed and happy!
She has turned into one HECK of a good looking little girl!
Waiting for our Dressage class
After taking 3rd in Western Pleasure!
Next day, me and Shay-la showing off our perfect girls!
Oh my perfect Jynxy pon!
BAHAHAHA, back at home and RIDICULOUS with her braids out!
