I think anyone who would claim this as abuse does not know horses. She didn't look distressed or hurting in any way. She just looked like "Um okay this is odd... ooh treats and rubs. The world is good." :) That's the way I'll take it with Brego. My back already gives me problems and bending down long enough to pick alll four hooves hurts.

She's gorgeous by the way!

Thanks guys. I basically mentioned the part about people considering it abusive for the sake of potentially less experienced horse people who didn't understand the mechanics of it, or for people who maybe thought I was inexperienced when it comes to equine language. I think there's a big difference in laying a horse down out of submission for problem/unbroken horses and doing it from a trick standpoint - she got lots of breaks in between and praise because she wasn't fighting me at all, just a little confused and I made sure I was clear that she was doing what I wanted.
