Lateral Work?

What are some suggestions of Lateral Work I could do with my mare? We took her to the vet yesterday and while she has a lot of great muscle in her hindquarters and shoulders the vet was not quite pleased with how much back muscle she had for her age. Currently she has the week off due to a lot of body soreness, but when I get back to riding her I would like some exercises to do with her. The vet suggested serpentine's, shoulder in, shoulder out and a couple other things that I can't quite remember.

Thank you!

Invest in the book 101 Dressage Exercises. It's got a bunch of good exercises.

For building back muscle, hill work is great, even at a walk. Cavaletti, too. Long and low work, especially long trotting helps if you use your legs to encourage lift in the body.
