    That's weird about the swallowing bit. My horse does it in pretty much every bit.
    It kind of makes sense if you think about it....But he will do it in a curb, three piece whatever.

    I'm not buying the "can't swallow in a snaffle" issue for one second. I've hand grazed my horses in an o-ring snaffle and they sure swallowed that grass!!!

    I know I've seen Soda swallow grass/hay/anything he can get in his mouth with his snaffle in... He even trys to eat his reins when we stop or stand.

    Exactly, gatorade, soda-pop, pepermints....they all went down the hatch too.

    It's when the rider has contact on the bit that the horse can't swallow. If there is no contact then of course the horse can swallow.
