Lock jaw, sticking tongue out?

I have a thoroughbred/cob that is 9 years old. She's great at walk and trot. Her canter can be very quick and forward and sometimes it takes alot to get her to transition down. I've been noticing that she has been sticking her tongue out the the left side. She doesn't respond to your hand while she's doing this only legs. Previous owner also said she did this occasionally and rode her in a flash to keep her mouth closed. Her teeth are okay. Any suggestions? She doesn't do this while lunging or working with side reins.

Why don't you ride her in a flash? Sounds like she's gaping and pulling on you or your pulling on her to make her throw that tongue out for relief.

She doesn't pull or anything..she just does it whenever. And she'll do it in her halter too. Just wondering why she might be doing this? I just purchased a new bridle, going to try that out. I just don't want to be masking the problem
