Longeing with a Longeing Cavesson

I'm looking for just over all information dealing with this method of longeing. I know nearly nothing about it, and would like to enlighten myself! I'm curious about how you introduce this to a horse, and how you progress from level to level. What are the first steps? What are the different purposes of the rings on the nose band?

I've garnered from a few internet searches that longeing with a Cavesson is a bit different than with a regular halter. It allows for finer communication and prepares the horse for future dealings with balance and connection.

If there is a thread already started, please feel free to point me there!

Lunging with Cavesson

There's a link to a very similar thread. Some people have some very loud opinions, but there is some very good information there. While it's more to do with side reins, there is also information on the purpose of a cavesson and the steps to take when using one.
