Looking for a big healthy TB for a training prospect?

A breeder of TB horses in Chase, British Columbia has run into financial difficulty and has 50 gorgeous registered TB's that will go DIRECTLY to the kill plant this coming 7-26-10 if they can't get them sold- only 500$ each- which is what they expect to get for meat prices. Anything over 8 yrs old is broke for riding- there is broodmares, yearlings, 2 and 3 yr olds- GORGEOUS. Some of these horses are just stunning. I am not a TB person but I think they are beautiful. People are fundraising and donating so the horses may be even cheaper now. Please- if you are looking for another mouth to feed and you love TB, would you take a look??

I agree with you, some of those horses are beautiful! I can't imagine that potential headed to the kill plant. I will spread the word. Thanks for posting this.

Thank you! Please do spread the word. I understand not every horse can be saved from a gruesome fate, but its worth trying!

Being from BC, I really really wish that I could take one or more of these beautiful horses in. :(

In case anyone wants it, the contact info of the actual owner of these horses is:
T Bar Ranch in Chase BC, owner Lee Oakford 250-679-5404. He's been asking everyone to spread this around in hopes of getting theses horses homes. I'm sure he would take less than $500 if it came down to it.

GOOD NEWS! All but 8 of the horses have found homes! This is awesome!! And Carleen, THANK YOU for giving the contact info- I was trying to find it, and just couldn't seem to anywhere. I bet he would take less- the last article I read said he would probably get 200-300$ for each horse at the slaughter plant.

Anything to help! I'm really glad to hear that there's only 8 left.

According to a lady on another forum, a lot of these horses are/were ready to head to the track for this year. It's just terrible that they ended up in this situation!

ETA: According to Christine's website there is now only 6 left!!

Do you know if Ray Day is still available?
    07-24-2010, 03:46 AM
YES! Ray Day STILL needs a home!!

Only 6 more left to go, and she is one of them. Please call ASAP if you can help, Christine said she will pull and keep horses at her place until transport can be arranged!

An update from Christine's website posted this morning at 9:30 AM:

WE HAVE DONE IT!!! NO HORSES ARE GOING TO SLAUGHTER!! Thank you to all who have come with open hearts to rescue horses in need. People have come from Alberta, Vancouver Island, and locally to help out. Below are some photos of lucky people and horses heading into a new life. There are a few horses who still need homes for those of you who are still looking. Please check them out.
I am so happy, I nearly started crying when I read this!
