    I lunged every horse I could get my hands on at 10 years old. I lunged my Shetland pony, my QH, my friends's horses, my neighbor's old half-dead Percheron, and even tried lunging my dog.
    I was always (usually) supervised, and I never got hurt that I can remember.
    I'd say go for it! :) it's a good thing to learn anyways.
