My horse is a pain to load. Did anyone buy this halter to load their horse with? Has it helped?:runninghorse2:
Yes the dually halterAre you talking about the Dually halter?
Never heard of it being specifically used for a horse who is hard to load, but my best friend has one for her QH mare. I wasn't terribly impressed. I prefer a nicely-tied, somewhat stiff rope halter.
Curious how the Dually halter is supposed to make loading a horse easier.
There is leading, and there is taking the horse away from the obstacle, and making him a believer, that YOU decide as to where he will lead, not the horseExcept that this horse leads perfectly fine in every situation other than loading I believe - so you could spend days and weeks and months leading him around the paddock, the roads, the manège, the yard etc and he wouldn't put a foot wrong so it would be a complete waste of time
This horse has a loading problem
It doesn't matter how well a horse leads if it decides it doesn't want to go somewhere and its got a mind of it's own and not a brain dead thing it won't go there unless you figure ou
t a technique to deal with that.
As far as I know this horse uses the 'cut and run' method so being able to stop him from doing that would be a place to start
The Dually is no better than just threading the lead rope through and around the nose and using that for increased pressure - on a really determined horse it won't work
