    Moving over

This will probably seem like an odd query but in a forum so full of horse knowledge it made sense to ask it!
I have an absolutely darling old quarter horse that never seems to put a foot wrong. In some ways he's almost too good.
My issue is that when I ask him to move over or move his hip away from me he moves too far.

So if he is stood with a wall along one side and I point at his butt he'll turn all the way round so he's stood facing the other way.
All I'd like is for him to just take a few steps to the side and I'm not sure how to achieve it because he's not doing anything WRONG he's just... over enthusiastic.
