Hey I know nothing about the sport but you seemed to be holding a nice position...for at least one pic. It looks like you have fun, and he is a great looking horse.

Now I wonder if I can get John to fix some handles to my training surcingle, I could have a couple of great handholds for starting youngsters

CooL!! Thanks for posting pics! It takes such a special to horse to be able to do that...I wish I had one. In my younger days, I didn't do vaulting but did roman riding. All we had to do was stand to walk, trot, canter and some jumping. To kick it up a notch, we would get two horses and ride with a foot on each horse.. or stand on one while driving one in front. I can't imagine vaulting though! I don't think I could ever be that flexible.

Lol! You are brave, Allison! I'm so clumsy I'd never be able to stand on moving horse.

I'll have to dig out the pictures of when I tried vaulting.
Managed to get a session for a small group of us with a couple of members of the GB vaulting team. Must say I spent far more time oggling one of my instructors. Boy was he Hot, perticularly when he is sitting on the horse with his hands on my waist as I attempt to stand up at the canter!

RIDE your horse FORWARDS and keep him STRAIGHT

that's awesome, Allison! I remember learning to do some basic vaulting back a year or two ago, on a big Perchi/TB gelding much like Prince, except for hot pink tack and no blaze. Those guys are like huge Sofas, aren't they? XD

I learned to do around-the-world and a few other easy maneuvers, but I never did try them at a trot. I walked then went straight to the canter! (I'm such a cheater...)
