Natural Horsemanship

Just thought maybe we could compile a list of trainers we know that practice natural horsemanship. That way we all know where to look.

Just wanted to add to that, There are alot of people who claim they are natural just because they don't use ropes and tie the horse down until they give in, But I think that not all these "natural" trainers are in fact natural....

Horse training is not natural. The name's a gimmick. Now I'm not downing "natural" horsemanship as its dubbed, I'm just saying it's ill named. I really don't have a problem with you if you like to use the techniques.

Somebody needs to kick Robert Redford in the keester. Everytime he makes a movie he starts a fad. Make one about fishing and everone becomes a fly fisherman and moves to Montana. Make one about a horse trainer and everyone is a "whispering" nut. On a serious note, not all listed trainers are "nautural" but I have never seen any of them hog tie a horse and beat them into submission so it is an improvment on the old cowboy ways.

I agree with tim. Training and riding a horse is not natural thing by definition - doesn't matter you think like horse or not. Well training may be in some sense (like gaining respect, for example). But horse doesn't ride another horse. :) I'd rather call it "resistance-free" or "think like horse" training.

What about Lynn Palm and Cherry Hills? Not sure one can call it "natural" or not, but they are great.

I completely agree with Tim. But, I think Natural Horsemanship is bull. When it comes down to the end we are all doing the same thing. But what works for one might not work for the other.

I assume "one thing" is riding. :) There are different methods to come to that, of course. Some people take it slow (as I did), some break horses in 2 days. I'd say for sure training very much depends on horse and not everything works for every horse.
