My 12'1, 18 year old welsh sec A is being brought back into work, well say work more like harder work, she did have a little boy riding her but she has started messing around rearing and refusing. Her back, saddle, feet, teeth etc have been checked all good. I rode her today she was lovely except she did try to rear once but didnt get up as i put my body weight against her. Hacking out, she dosen't go on herself at all. Will only move if someone is walking with her or there is another horse with her. Cantering in the field, sand school or out she is like a rocking horse -bronking- . I don't understand her really, is she playing up to get out of work? Please no nasty or hateful comments i just need help to help her.
She's Welsh - they come with attitude!!!
As long as you've had her all checked over and nothing wrong and the tack you use is all good and correct then you have to get after her with a schooling whip. Ponies like her will always 'take the mick' if they think they can get away with it but as soon as they realize they can't they're all sweetness and light and will give you their all plus some.
I've been schooling her for 3 days now, the first night she tried to rear once but didnt get off the ground as i corrected her, she hasn't tried since.Very speedy little pony!
