Never been so frustrated!

Today when I came home from work my friend who keeps her horse at my families barn was practicing putting one of our horses onto our trailer. It was bad enough that she didn't have permission to take him out let alone put him on the trailer. On top of that he wouldn't go on because she has no authority so she gets a bag of treats and gives him one every time he takes a step closer. I wanted to tell her to leave and take her horse with her, but didn't have the heart to. I have gotten that horse on the trailer without treating him like a child. I just had to get this out because my parents didn't give two $$$$$ about what was done.

Well, she has probably ruined that horse. Why didn't you say something.

I don't want anyone, period, handling my horses. For exactly this reason.

Yup, I'd be peeved too & while you may not be able to tell her to leave, I'd tell her in no uncertain terms she is not allowed to play with your horses without express permission. I don't understand why you'd assume she's 'ruined' the horse tho Palo.

Did you ask permission to use the horse and trailer and if so, from whom? I suspect you don't want to be confrontational so guess who's dominating you?

I wasn't the one using the horse and trailer. And that's beside the point because she knows no one would be dumb enough to do it to her horse.

I agree with Loosie, I would definitely be ticked. Make sure she knows not to touch your horses again, and if she does, don't be afraid to have her kicked off the property. "Professional" boarding stables would kick her out, there is no reason a private place can't. I doubt the horse is ruined though.

If she doesn't respect your wishes about your horses, then perhaps that's a tactic you can take - tell her then you think it's only reasonable that you have free rein to do whatever you feel like with her horse.

I hope the trailer was hooked to a truck.
I'd be more than a little upset. I'm not sure exactly what I would have said or done but I know she would have been crying at some point.

Oh you big meanie Natasha!

Re the hooked to a truck bit, I remember going to hire a trailer once & it was so light & perhaps imbalanced that when my friend & I both stood in the 'escape door' at the front, it tipped up!! I wouldn't consider a float like that safe even when hooked to a vehicle. When I was in the market for one I passed over anything that wasn't stable & heavy enough to safely load a horse without hooking up. Tho I still chock it with bricks when I use it like this, for Justin.

You should address the issue in some way. That isn't proper of someone to handle your horse without permission.
