oh my gosh it's WATER!

so it recently just got really warm in a matter of a day it's been in the 70's and high 80's! so while working my horse she had gotten really sweaty.

so I thought perfect oppurtunity to get her wet with the hose...well didnt go as planned, she would NOT stand still!! Do you guys have advice to desensitize her to water?

Last year she stood quietly, so whats up with her now?

My horse does this at first when I give her baths, the best advice I can give you is to find a point that she is most comfortable with the water being sprayed on her. For instance, my horse doesn't mind her feet being sprayed. Start there and work until your horse is comfortable and slowly move around her body. If she gets nervous or jumpy, move back to her comfort zone and she should eventually calm down.

Not sure where you are in the country/world but I am guessing if she stood fine last year and is dancing like crazy during this hosing it was because of how cold the water is. Water coming out of the ground (be it ground water or piped water) in the northern states is approximately 40deg this time of year. That would feel pretty darn cold even if she was hot to start with.

It takes a few months actually. It never actually gets much above 70deg.

Do not feel too bad. I am guessing you are one of many who bathed their horses this weekend. The nice weather tends to make us want to wash off the winter grunge as soon as we can.

Just keep it in mind so you can understand her dancing and maybe make sure you have a cooler or scrim handy so you can help her warm back up quickly when you are done.
