Our first trail ride today!!

We went out on the trail today and Apollo did great...

But.. When we were practicing walk/trot/canter in the pasture I ate it.
Walking and trotting we did awesome, I got cocky and decided to try cantering...
All in all I was still happy about our progress today. I made sure to work him and hop back on right away.. :p

Anyway, excuse my muddy jeans my posture. I am just learning English riding. But here we are after our ride.

Cool@! get some breeches with either knee patch or full seat. The leather will give you a bit of "stickum" and may make the difference next time.

Well, at least you got your first fall out of the way, too. Now it's easy peasy.

Yes! I'm sure I have a few more coming. I did manage to canter a bit, and wow was it smooth..
It was my fault I should have longed him in the round pen to get his quirks of before the ride, it was just so muddy in there.
I also forgot to mention, this was his first day with a bit. I've been using the sidepull but I felt like I needed a bit more control..
I'm still shocked with his progress, he is a quick learner and so willing. He just seems like a natural to everything..

Someday when I am down in your area Tiny, you will have to meet him. He is just the sweetest thing ever. :)

I love going out on first trail rides! I'm lucky I hate falling off horribly and I've learned to have a supremely good "sticky seat"!
I much prefer teaching them to lope in a big open field instead of a tiny round pen. If I DO happen to come off, I'd rather it in a pile of grass instead of a pole fence. lol

Sounds like you guys had tons of fun! :)
