Our new nervous Cob x Appy filly's progress

We have just purchased a 14.3/ 15hh cob x appy filly, 4 in June. She has a sweet curious nature but at some point someone has done something to her which has made her nervous and jumpy at sudden movements.

Her owner is having an operation in a couple of weeks which is going to put her out of action for 6 months. She is selling 3 of her 4 horses and this mare would have gone to market if she hadn't been sold in time.

We went to see her and she doesn't seem to have a bad bone in her body, only she jumps at sudden movements and is quite fearful of tape fencing.

Anyway she is being delivered tomorrow morning so I thought I might start a thread to show her progress.

Her name is Sunshine but I think we are going to change it to either Kiwi or Shoop.

Oh she is so cute! Love the markings and seems like she is in great hands! Good luck with her, I am sure she will do just dandy in your hands! Perhaps she had a problem with the electric tape before? Who knows! Looking forward to updates and more pictures!

She has arrived! "Sunshine", who we have renamed Shoop was delivered on Tuesday lunchtime.
To my surprise she loaded, travelled and unloaded just fine. Saw what she is like going through tape gates when we put her into her paddock...creep up to it and then dash through as fast as you can lol.
Couldn't get near her for a good hour until curiosity got the better of her and she began to walk up to us. She spent most of the day tormenting our ardennes mare Moomin.
Went up this morning and managed to successfully take her rug off while she was still loose in the paddock, she stood still like a good girl.
First on my list was to get her used to walking calmly through the gateway. She dashed the first time then jogged then walked calmly...lesson learned lol.
Gave her a good brush as she is malting like crazy. Began to teach her about moving away from pressure and got her lifting and holding her front foot up for a few seconds. This took a few attempts she seemed to think that the aim of the game was to pick it up sharply then quickly paw at the ground, got there in the end, tomorrow the other 3 feet!
She seems to be getting used to everyone already, she's getting lots of attention from all the family. She marches up to everyone with such determination then gets a bit shy when she's a couple of feet away lol. She is very wary of the tape fencing but leading her along side it and feeding her treats over it seems to be helping.
The funniest thing is that she has managed to dominate Moomin and become top dog...Moomin has never been defeated lol.
Anyway only day 2 so very early days but we are smitten with her. I've added some pics too...

Just been up to rug up for the night. Shoop was a piece of cake to catch and halter. Lead her calmly through the tape gate with mum holding the handle away from her. On the way back into the paddock I held the gate handle in my left hand and her rope in my right, making the entrance way a lot narrower for her. She walked through calmly. Very happy with her
