"I have also started Phillip on his under-saddle tune-up. He did fantastic for his first ride in two months! We worked on the flat, mainly on picking leads. He needs work with his right. We also practiced cantering from a walk. That went amazingly smooth! Other than his leads, we he is having a head-tossing problem. That will be fixed before we show this summer.
Savannah has been working on free lunging & become less skittish, (and more trusting).
Savannah free jumped a barrel, which was phenomenal. She doesn't like to jump, and she jumped it at least 7 times. 3 without me forcing her. She just followed my eyes and listened to my vocal cues. I am not sure if she's back-sore, or her joint are bad, but I will not be saddling her until that is confirmed. We are looking into treatment."
It's a fragment of my blog, but the important part! Anyone have any tips for picking up on the right lead (from a walk OR a trot)? What about trust exercises for Savannah? She followed me all around after this session - which she has NEVER EVER EVER done before. She showed a lot of respect, and signs of comprehension. Although, she did get frustrated, and buck, but I expect her to. She's done worse. I was so proud!
