Angry Punishments (rant)

Grr...
So my friend has a bit of an issue with dealing out the correct punsihments I believe. I know everyone trains differently but this to me is beyond exceptable with what she does. Here are some instances:

1. So my friend owns this wonderfully well-minded quarter horse mare. Well, she just got this horse in January last year. She has been working her every day or every other day since then. Latly, she has been training her horse to jump and rein. So one day I went to watch her ride and she took off for a jump with her horse and the horse stumbled on the landing. She took that as bad and preceded to beat her horse with her crop and then work her for about 4 hours with no break. I was pissed!

2. One of the horses at the barn is a natural escape artist and got out on a day we were both there. My friend caught the horse and took him into the indoor arena with a crop. She made the horse trot while she was beating it with the crop in a 3 or 4 foot circle! This went on for about 15 minutes. The horse still will escape but now he runs away from you when you go to catch him. This wasn't her horse either.

3. Lastly, she and I went trail riding and we went past the pastures ( I wasn't riding my horse). Well, my horse decided to pin her ears back at one of the ponies in the pasture while we went past and my friend saw that. She stepped off her horse and picked up a couple rocks and started chucking them at my horse saying she was being bad! Now I was super pissed that day. No one messes with my horse like that!

After that trail ride that day I told her to not do anything with my horse and a couple others I have been training. She asked why? I told her off saying that she needs to learn to control her temper and maybe then I will trust her again around my horse.

Just to think I looked up to my friend because we have been riding and training under my instructor for 5 years now. We have both learned that patience is the key. I wonder now what she does when Im not there....

What would you have done?
Sorry for the long post, lots of built up anger!
Plus she has been given a green horse to work with by my instrucot that doesn't see this attitude of hers! Rant over....

I would throw a rock at her head. End of story.

Lol not really. I would report her to my trainer and I would move to a new barn.

Beat her with a crop then steal her horse?

I would have been pissed too! And probably would have given her a good smack with a riding crop!

I had this problem, except worse.

My friends horse would come back swollen (from being smacked with the leather reins). She would tie the horses leg to its belly to teach patients, the horses mouth would come back with bleeding from the top of its mouth. It was terrible. She even used not feeding the 26 year old mare grain as a punishment. And this horse NEEDS her grain. It got way worse...

Her parents wouldn't stop it, and actually my farrier emailed the horses owner (the horse was leased) and the owner wouldn't even come see the horse.

So my friend got kicked off the property we kept our horses at. I think that helped a bit. But I know it goes on still. Then a lady I ride with called her on it, literally screaming and shouting at her until she started to cry....A bunch of other things happened from it aw well. Finally the abuse stopped. Now she really has no interest in horses and only rides them occasionally, but at least it stopped.

With my friend it started off exactly like you are seeing and kept getting worse.

Wow, this is your 'friend'...?

It doesn't sound like this is just her way of training, it sound like she has a BAD temper and IMO, shouldn't be around horses. Discipline is one thing, but this girl sounds like a psycho. I do not know anyone who would do that to a horse, even the more 'old fashioned' type trainers know better!

I would bad her from my horse, try to get her out of the barn! And if all else fails, you move barns.

No Freaking way would I stand by and watch that! She needs to get off that property! She needs to be reported and especially for discipling someone elses horse.

Why wouldn't you tell her upfront and tell the trainer if she touches other horses? Yes, I do understand she's your friend, but friends can be wrong too.

LOL this made me laugh!

I agree with discipline but sounds as though she's taking it a bit far. I'd speak with your trainer as to your best course of action.

I most definitely make sure she doesn't handle your horses.
