Question about a Morgan I've been working with.

I began working with a Morgan mare in August named Jewel (aka CJ for short). I started her under saddle in late September/ early October (can't quite remember when) and I rode her through the winter. Her muscles seem to be a bit mushy, and I've only ridden at the walk (this mare has come a very long way, she was very skittish and afraid of people and headshy around her ears - I never though I would get on her when I first started working with her but trust goes a long way). How can I work up her muscles some more? I've thought of lunging and walking over some groundpoles, she's also done a few jumps about a foot and a half high on the lunge. Any other ideas? I plan on starting her at the trot once she gets the idea of a more continuous gait at the walk going.

Idea's for Natural muscle building (I'm highly against all those supplements, they seem like a waste to me).

A Morgan I'm riding was the exact same way. Bought green-broke but never had a person on his back before? Yeah. Anyways, he's come a long way and we're working on teaching him to jump. If you don't want to start trotting just yet try walking around outside up hills/down hills. Walking up and down hills is such a good workout for horses of any level.
