I have a 2 year old stud horse that has to be kept a stud for agricultural purposes... he is absolutley amazing under saddle, no rearing or buckin what so ever. Its only when groundwork applies.. he doesnt want to back up. He gets mad when you take him away from other horses to train.. I am 6 months pregnant and he reared on me when I was holding him and my brother was riding my other horse. He didnt want to sit still and I would not let him go chase my mare while my brother was riding her. So he pranced and pawed in place then when he figured out I wasnt letting him go he reared.. not the kind of rear that intimidates you it was a rear to get out of my way. He stepped forward and reared. I turned and went to move and both his front feet hit me in the back. Then about 3 weeks later my friend was messin with him because I am prego. She tried getting him to mind and he reared and longed and completely ran her over.. that same day I got in the round pen with him just to do some longing to see if I could wear him out before backing him up. And he reared up stll.. so as soon as he landed I brought the whip down across his ears about 3 or 4 times and he backed up all the way across the round pen..
Is he just being a bully? Or is he just mean? Im lost and confused.. it seems everytime he acts up and I smack him he don't want to be smacked so he starts minding... should I keep doing what im doing?
