Actually, the more she does it, the more it will become a habit and become a reaction to other things. It really needs to be dealt with and corrected.

If it's dark outside and light inside (where you're riding) it's going to be way harder for her to see what's out there

My indoor, for instance, the entrance is open top to bottom. If I was in there with the lights on, I wouldn't be able to see what was outside very well.
