What I do is I just stand in one place and
1) let it all the way around me, passing it to me other hand around my back or
2) hold it over my head and twist my wrist.
I horse still goes the same gait and has been working really well for me.
I do get dizzy, but that usually means I've gone too long in one direction or without asking the hrose to stop or make some kind of change. Using a round pen is not about making your horse go round and round endlessly.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had my 6yr old QH on a long lead rope out in the open and just had him making short circles around me to make him work when he refused to follow. I could feel it coming on after just a couple of rounds and remembered how easily I get dizzy from spinning.
I will put into effect each of the suggestions to see what works for me...Again, thank you very much..
I was always told to keep my eyes on the horse's shoulder. I was told it causes you to mentally move your body to encourage the horse to continue, and I stopped getting dizzy. Posted via Mobile Device
