And guess what? It worked. I grabbed the reins with one hand when she bucked and hit her with the over and under so hard I think she'll have a mark there for awhile.
Big surprise though, she has not even mildly shown any resistance since then. Picks up the lope without bucking or rearing, changing leads smoother, stoping and running down without bracing.
I think she just needed the snot beat out of her. She's been getting away with stuff for so long because my Mom isn't the most confident rider, especially since her balance is bad (Inner ear thing in process of healing) and just got out of surgery. I let Mom ride her after that and she was good for that too.
I'm so happy this is working out. I took her out bareback with a halter only and rode her with no problems. I really hope things keep going like this. I'm going to take her out on the trail when I'm not schooling because I think that will be good therapy for her to get away from the stress of working. Maybe even take her to play in the gymkhana on the 5th and lope through some poles.
