She was soooo good!

So I guess it's my turn to brag .

Just as I set out for the trail today, it started to rain. I thought that it was just a shower and would soon past, but then it got worse, and worse, and worse. Now, my horse is a 10 yr old arab mare that I have trained myself, from scratch, since getting her as an untrained 7 yr old 3 yrs ago. She has just started going out by herself this year and is doing beautifully. Well today, the lightning started and it was closer than I've ever experienced. My little mare kept her head though, and even with the lightning and cars passing, got us both home safely . She was so calm and level headed that it makes me forget how she was as an insecure youngster. Anyway, just wanted to share, and I hope that this gives other people hope for how their young horses will turn out eventually.

Yay! Must have been a great feeling!

I'm heading out to the barn in an hour to work with my young'un. Today our focus is to understand the "walk" cue.
A long ways from riding out alone!
